The conference marking the end of our first phase of funding took place at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on 23 and 24 May 2024. Titled ‘Local Roads, Global Belts’, the event covered the wide spectrum of research on the BRI that has been produced since 2021.
The programme consisted of panels concieved by the partners in the De:link // Re:link research consortium (HU Berlin, Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient, Zentrum für Osteuropa und Internationale Studien, and Bonn International Center for Conflict Studies). Short presentations of images provided insightful snapshots into the work of individual researchers. Evening events – a roundtable on the Thursday and a reception on the Friday – were opportunities for researchers from the network to catch up with previous colleagues and to forge new contacts.
